Privacy and HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) Specialist The candidate will report to the Chief Privacy Officer. Will provide system-wide support for the design, review, enhancement and remediation of firm privacy compliance and business associate agreement (BAA) program. Participate in all aspects of a comprehensive privacy compliance program from research and analysis, incident response and documentation, regulatory research, policy and procedure development, risk assessment and monitoring adherence to policies, procedures, compliance standards and metrics. Make recommendations based on privacy compliance best practices and specifically provide review and guidance for firm's BAAs. Provide support to firm as a subject matter expert on Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), privacy laws and regulatory requirements, including analysis and interpretation of those laws and regulations specifically as they apply to the system's BAA, in coordination with Information Security, the Department of Legal Affairs and Risk Management departments when appropriate. Act as a liaison for the coordination and implementation of a system-wide HIPAA BAA privacy compliance program, including setting agendas and taking and/or reviewing minutes for Privacy Leadership Team meetings. Advise on privacy policy, BAA procedures, directives, and guidelines to enhance compliance with privacy requirements across firm.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in healthcare, education, communications, or related fields of study. Certified Professional Compliance Officer (CPCO) within 6 months of hire is required. A Law degree or coursework is preferred. Should have 5 years of experience with compliance and privacy laws and regulations with demonstrated analytical ability. Strong oral and written communication skills including active listening skills needed. Should preferably have 3+ years of experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with HIPAA and BAA's.
