Assistant Prosecuting Attorney The candidate will be responsible to prosecute criminal cases including vertically prosecuting cases from investigation through trial. Interview victims of crimes, complaint and law enforcement officials requesting warrants; determines appropriateness and authorizes warrants as deemed necessary. Analyze police reports, case investigation reports, laboratory reports, witness statements and identification to authorize or deny prosecutor proceedings. Decide whether an accused is charged with a crime and/or whether charges are reduced or dropped. Advises law enforcement officials within the county on legal matters related to investigations and procedures. Prepare Search Warrants and assist police in field investigation when necessary or requested. Handle assignments in all courts, which include Circuit, District, and Juvenile Court. Prepare for trials and court proceedings by researching previous cases and applicable legislation. Draft briefs and legal memoranda in support of court arguments. Conduct criminal trials by introducing case, picking jury, presenting opening and closing arguments, examining and cross-examining witnesses, presenting evidence and arguing motions.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must be a Graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Michigan. Must be a member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar.
