Fair Housing Coordinator Duties: Educate, counsel, and advocate for victims of housing discrimination, investigate incidences of housing discrimination, and undertake outreach and education activities in the community at large. Provide fair housing intake, education/referral, counseling, and advocacy services, including intervening on behalf of tenants to resolve fair housing issues, researching and analyzing legal issues, drafting written materials such as education letters and reasonable accommodation requests, and assisting staff attorneys at pop-up clinics to provide brief fair housing counseling services. Develop/oversee case investigations, including interviewing witnesses, surveying sites, collecting and analyzing documents, and researching public records. Engage in community outreach and education on fair housing issues, and act as the agency liaison with government officials and other organizations. Contribute to program development and administration, including drafting funding proposals, and work collaboratively with other agency personnel, funding sources, and other nonprofit agencies in the community. Track data and compile quarterly reports as required by funders. Assist in other duties as assigned to further the interests and mission of the agency.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Candidate must have a demonstrated desire to work to further civil rights protections, and a desire to work and interact with, as well as demonstrate respect for, diverse individuals and groups without regard to race, religion, sex, color, national origin, sexual orientation, familial status, or disability. Bachelor’s degree required; JD Degree or M.A. highly desirable. Capacity to work and think independently, proactively, and without close supervision. Ability to handle an active caseload and manage short timelines. Excellent written communication skills. Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills. Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain accurate records. Creative problem-solving skills and a strong desire to help people. Must be willing and able to travel within Silicon Valley as needed to investigate housing discrimination & engage in outreach/education.
