ProfileRecovery Project Director, 8300B, 00 Duties: The candidate will work for the Division of Public Buildings/Build It Back Program. In this capacity. Will be responsible for all aspects of the design and construction phases of rebuilding homes damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Supervising design and construction staff; functioning as primary client liaisons on particular projects and leading the consultant selection process; tracking projects to ensure the bid, award, registration, and construction stages of each project are successfully accomplished; working closely with Project Managers to assure deadlines are met and projects are within budget; preparing reports, letters and memos; and overseeing progress on all assigned projects. Responsible for ensuring that this goal is achieved.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: The candidate should have baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and 5+ years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, 2+ years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or Should have 4-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of experience as described in "1" above; 2+ years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or Should have education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Must have accredited Master's degree in one of the disciplines described in "1" above, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect is substituted for 1+ year of the required experience. Must have the 2+ years of the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Experience in construction and construction administration functions is preferred. Must have direct interaction with high-level public officials, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and knowledge of business processes in the capital design and construction areas. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Note: This job for a grant-funded position that may only have tenure of up to eighteen (18) months.
