Sr. Paralegal _ Washington, DC Req #: 212441 Location: Washington, DC US Job Category: Service Contract Act Security Clearance: DOJ MBI Clearance Status: Must be Obtainable Job Description You’ll Bring These Qualifications: Candidate possess a paralegal legal certificate and have at least two years of litigation paralegal experience. Must be comfortable preforming many legal assistant tasks; including traveling one-week per-month to operate Trial Director or Sanction for the trial team during trial. Must have demonstrated legal knowledge and skills in a variety of tasks, including: standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research. Experience summarizing relevant materials for use by attorneys in interviews and trials, in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents, and maintain case files. Ability to review a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal documents, including exhibits, motions and briefs, a variety of correspondence, and banking and financial statements. Prepare, organize, track, and index discovery and other exhibit materials in databases received from investigations and discovery for use at interviews and trials. Computer Skills: Because candidate will be required to travel approximately one week a month to manage exhibits using Sanction or Trial Director in federal courts across the country, experience using and troubleshooting these programs under the pressure of a live trial is critical. In addition to the ability to use applications noted above and MS Word and MS Outlook, the candidate must have strong MS Excel spreadsheet skills as well as experience in other databases such as MS Access and Relativity. Should also be familiar with Word Perfect, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and CaseMap. Communication skills are extremely important. Candidate must have and use excellent oral and written communications skills. Work and interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff to achieve the objectives of the trial team. Ability to meet established deadlines and work as a team player in a professional office and courtroom. Show skill in meeting and dealing with people in a courteous and tactful manner. May be called on to provide assistance and guidance to other paralegals to work collectively as a team.
