A law firm seeks an experienced Data Privacy & Compliance Associate Attorney to join their growing team in Louisville, KY. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a background in transactional privacy law, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to manage multiple privacy-related matters while drafting and negotiating data security provisions in agreements. The position offers a hybrid work model, combining flexibility with a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Duties

  • Advise clients on data privacy laws and regulatory compliance, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate data privacy and security provisions in various business contracts.
  • Assist with the development of data privacy strategies and internal policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Provide legal counsel on the privacy aspects of business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and address privacy risks and compliance challenges.
  • Stay up-to-date on evolving privacy regulations and industry best practices.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and discussions related to data protection, security breaches, and regulatory audits.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of transactional experience in data privacy and compliance law.
  • Proficiency in privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Strong ability to draft and negotiate legal agreements, particularly with respect to data privacy and security provisions.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to clients and non-legal stakeholders.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the bar in good standing in the relevant state (preferably Kentucky or ability to be licensed in Kentucky).
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) are a plus but not required.
