General Counsel Responsibilities: Provides legal advice and guidance to Hospital personnel on all legal issues including litigation, insurance, insurance procurement and coverage; contracts; state and federal regulatory matters; patient issues including advanced directives, patient rights and grievances; workers’ compensation, employment practice liability and other employee related matters; plays an integral role in drafting and editing policies, procedures and bylaws; oversight of Compliance Program; attendance and participation in multiple committees including Medical Staff Bylaws; Credentialing; Medical Records; Policy Approval; QEC; Grievance; Ethics; and when required attendance at meetings of the Board of Directors; oversees retention and work product of outside counsel for selected legal matters.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Licensed to practice law in New York State. Superior writing, research and communication skills. Ability to manage staff and resources efficiently. Works independently and exercises sound judgment. Knowledge of regulations and laws affecting the healthcare industry. Ability to multi-task and produce quality work product. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
