ProfileCoverage Attorney The candidate will provide legal counsel and support to associates regarding construction defect matters not in litigation or arbitration against insurers, including insurance coverage, claim handling, allocation, cost sharing, and settlement agreements. Provide legal counsel and support for associates and management in making informed decisions regarding claims, in particular by: assessing insurers’ rights and obligations; evaluating material risks and options facing insurers; and identifying realistic options available to insurers. Provide legal counsel and support to enable associates and management to make timely decisions. Provide legal counsel and support as efficiently as possible, including; making full use of internal staff and resources; and managing outside counsel and vendors, as needed. Report and provide legal counsel to RiverStone associates and management on legal developments regarding insurance coverage and claims handling issues relevant to business. Travel to and personally appear at court conferences, mediations, arbitrations, strategy sessions, witness interviews, site visits or as otherwise necessary, primarily in the United States, but with some international travel possible. Provide testimony when called upon for information that is not privileged, confidential or protected from disclosure. Assist with review of potential acquisitions. Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and ethics. Develop creative ideas and solutions to real time business problems and/or business opportunities. Prioritize and organize work in a self-directed manner. Attain and maintain knowledge of assigned department. Perform other duties as required, including supporting and coordinating with other department colleagues. Must exhibit excellent writing skills – providing cogent and succinct analysis of facts, issues and the law with sound reasoning and conclusions. Must have law school with a Juris Doctorate and admission to California state Bar. Should have 7-15 years of complex insurance coverage experience, whether as outside counsel or through employment in the insurance industry.
