Vice President, Intellectual Property, Licensing and Standards The candidate will be responsible for directing and executing the licensing strategy for firm’s patent portfolio to generate significant revenue, guide the patent prosecution group to protect valuable innovations and oversee firm’s participation in international standards. Lead a team to develop inbound and outbound licensing strategy, both short term and long term. Execute outbound licensing strategy to meet quarterly revenue goals. Manage patent operations to reduce costs/expenses and protect new innovations. Coordinate teams to align priorities with revenue goals. Develop licensing programs. Negotiate and close licensing transactions. Interact with the senior leadership team to determine licensing strategy, priorities, and to provide regular visibility of progress. Direct and coordinate participation in relevant industry standards setting organizations.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Telecommunication or other related fields. Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office is preferred. Licensed attorney is beneficial. 15+ years of licensing and patent related experience with close involvement in patents and patent management is essential. 10+ years of relevant Director or Executive managerial experience is required. Strong track record of closing licensing deals for significant value is critical. Experience and understanding of patent and portfolio valuation is must. Solid experience in licensing negotiations and responding to arguments is essential. Broad technical knowledge, industry insight and commercial awareness of the Internet of Things, Enterprise of Things, cyber-security, cryptography, automotive systems, enterprise mobility management, mobile devices, mobile operating systems and applications is required.
