Facilities Supervisor
The candidate will be responsible for the management and operations of all facilities functions in the Los Angeles office, including: landlord/tenant relationships, office maintenance and repairs, space allocation and design, office furniture and equipment, catering, office security, safety and business continuity planning. Providing overall management of the office facilities. Serving as on-the-ground point of contact for vendor services, providing regular operational direction to ensure optimal service levels. Serving as main point of contact with property management services and building engineers; ensure appropriate and timely services are being provided and services are scheduled with minimal disruption to firm business. Managing and maintaining inventory, including asset tagging, of all firm owned and leased office equipment. Participating in office space allocation, managing office signage and managing office moves. Managing office emergency personnel program and meet annually to review procedures. Creating annual expense and capital budgets, with office leadership, for the department while monitoring budget performance throughout the year. Must have 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience managing facilities and building operations working with property management services, building engineers, building and mechanical systems in a professional services firm. Requires ability to develop and maintain relationships with vendors. Should have ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously while meeting business objectives. Must be able to estimate production times and supervise workflow. Experience with Visio and Project Management software highly desirable. Familiarity with space planning and real estate modeling software a plus.

Treat support staff better so that there is more consistency in this area. Give people more opportunities to expand their roles, and make sure these people are selected based on merit. Help IT do their jobs better.

Pros : Pretty good pay and benefits. Stable client base. Doesn't suffer as much from typical big-firm problems, to the extent you might think. Looks good on a resume.
Cons : Too much emphasis on inter-office politics. Use of technology could be better. Lots of turnover in the support staff; support staff seems kind of poorly treated in general, actually. Advancement can be difficult.
