Job Overview:

A law firm seeks an experienced Intellectual Property Consulting Counsel to join their dynamic team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent litigation, a willingness to learn trademark litigation, and a passion for intellectual property law. This role offers significant responsibility and direct exposure to clients.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee patent litigation cases from inception to resolution
  • Conduct pre-trial analysis and develop mitigation strategies
  • Handle discovery matters and disputes efficiently
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Collaborate with experts and review their reports
  • Represent clients in court hearings and trials
  • Provide clients with strategic legal advice on intellectual property matters
  • Stay updated on relevant legal developments and industry trends
  • Mentor junior associates and contribute to team development
  • Participate in business development and client relationship management activities

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of patent litigation experience
  • Open to learning and handling trademark litigation cases
  • Experience in ANDA litigation is a plus
  • Strong litigation experience throughout the case lifecycle, including:
    • Pre-trial analysis
    • Discovery matters/disputes
    • Taking and defending depositions
    • Working with experts and their reports
    • Court hearings and trial
  • Excellent academic credentials and references

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Educational background in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or life sciences preferred

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive in

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
