Tax Supervisor The candidate will oversee personnel in the tax accounting function of the organization. Will manage tax reporting, tax planning, and compliance functions of the organization. Hires, trains, leads, develops, and evaluates team members, providing career guidance and counseling in accordance with company policy. Recognizes, anticipates, and resolves tax issues; making recommendations as applicable. Serves as liaison with outside auditors and multiple outsourcers or advisors. Gathers material to defend our tax position and respond professionally. Identifies tax savings and exposures and effectively communicates such findings. Performs preparation, gathering and formatting of material to defend and support tax return and refund filings. Conducts special tax research projects, such as research on proposed transactions, reaching appropriate conclusions and applying authority to support conclusions. Ensures quantification and documentation of federal and state income tax liabilities for tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments. Activities include quantifying book/tax adjustments, federal/state modifications and state apportionment. Responsible for the preparation of FAS 109 related calculations and journal entries. Ensures monthly, timely processing of multiple state and multiple entity sales and use tax returns and foreign VAT returns and takes responsibility for their accuracy. Ensures applicable general ledger accounts tie to tax schedules. Ensures timely application for refunds of overpaid sales and use tax. Ensures timely responses to inquiries from tax jurisdictions. Ensures that new products are set up in ERP system properly for financial and tax purposes. Ensures timely filing and payment of applicable property taxes. Reviews reconciliation of tax expense and liability accounts. Must have Bachelors degree in Accounting or other related field. CPA, JD, or other relevant professional certification preferred. Should have 5+ years of business tax accounting experience, to include 2+ years of management/supervisory experience. International business tax compliance and planning experience required. Must have experience with FAS 109 calculations and booking. Should have experience with international, federal, state and local income tax compliance issues. Must have demonstrated knowledge of tax code and regulations including ability to accurately interpret and apply findings to business requirements. Should have demonstrated analytical, technical, and problem solving skills with proficiency in US GAAP and tax compliance. Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are needed. Must have demonstrated ability to use CCH and/or similar research tools to determine taxability and ensure compliance. Should have experience accessing and utilizing ERP financial software applications such as SalesForce/FinancialForce. Must have experience with Vertex or Avalara tax software, or similar tax software application. Should have demonstrated spreadsheet preparation and analytical skills. Multi-national corporation and transfer pricing experience preferred. Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is desired. Experience in both corporate and public accounting an advantage.
