Assistant Counsel The candidate will support organization's response to Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests it receives including coordination of requests and responses. Will provide legal assessments and evaluation of all FOIL requests to determine agency's obligation to respond and prepare responses, including written objections when appropriate. Will also support the vetting of potential borrowers and projects that organization will finance. This includes implementation of an updated vendor responsibility questionnaire and vetting procedures to ensure that the Agency is only doing business with reputable partners. Provide legal guidance to the General Counsel and other executive staff regarding these matters. Manage a workload that is expected to be 45% FOIL legal work, 45% overseeing and executing enhancement of the Legal department's due diligence vetting process and 10% support for other aspects of the Law department's work. Should have a law degree or J.D. degree. Should preferably have 2+ years of related experience in public finance, municipal bonds, affordable housing, economic development, securities law, banking law or real estate finance law.
