Circuit Civil Case Manager
Duties: Screen civil cases for compliance with civil and local rules and administrative orders to assure completeness and readiness for hearing. Provide assistance with case management of caseloads, maintains a database for open cases needing attention, and enter documents in the automated case management system. Review court files where issues arise and prepare files for final hearing. Schedule hearings, prepares notices of hearings and maintains courts calendars; attends and monitors court hearings as needed. Monitor case processing reports to ensure case events comply with statutory/local practice timelines. Evaluate the status of case related matters, performs required actions to move the case forward and consult with the Judge to facilitate case progression. Provide case status information to the court either at hearings or through periodic reports. Perform clerical tasks such as preparing orders, documents and forms or creating and maintaining records systems for efficient case management. Prepare technical and statistical review of evaluation reports. Attend, participate and contribute to committee and management meetings. Perform related administrative functions and other duties as needed.

Qualification and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, pre-law or a closely related field required. 3+ years of experience as a Paralegal is required. Paralegal Certificate is preferred. A Master’s degree may substitute for 1+ year of the required experience; A Juris Doctorate degree may substitute for 2+ years of the required experience; or any equivalent combination of education required. Knowledge of legal terminology and legal format; legal secretarial practices and procedures; court case management principles and courtroom protocol is required. Ability to develop, layout, and implement clerical procedures and operations from general instructions and guidelines; make routine decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures; establish and maintain administrative, fiscal, and general records and to prepare reports and answer questions from records; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the judiciary, court administrative personnel, and other private and county agencies’ staff is preferred.
