Part-time Faculty - Paralegal Instructor The candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching legal assistant and paralegal courses in an online learning management system. Prepares for each assigned class with punctuality, enthusiasm, and regular attendance. Implements class activities that will promote maximum learning and meet learning outcomes. Covers the usual course content as described in the approved course outline, and provides sufficient exposure to the material so that students will satisfactorily proceed to the next course in sequence and/or courses in the program. Provides regular feedback on assignments within one week from the due date. Communicates regularly and in a timely manner to emails (within 24 – 48 hours) from students and UCC staff. Submits reports as requested including class rosters, syllabus, grade reports, grade books, text book requests, inventories, final examinations. Processes drops for non-attendance at the end of week 1. Processes early alerts in the college's approved system. Submits final grades by the college's deadline. Meets online or by phone with students as may be necessary for additional instruction. Carries out college policies in all other aspects that relate to the position. Makes appropriate updates to online classes including, but not limited to, new edition of text information. Participates in outcomes assessment as directed by Department Chair or Dean. Completes training offered by the college to keep updated on and in compliance with ADA, Title IX, etc. Conducts self as a representative of the college staff when participating in school-related functions
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Master's degree in strongly related field; Juris Doctorate degree is preferred. Must have 5+ years of verifiable legal experience with a Master's degree or 2 years with a JD degree. Classroom teaching experience is preferred; On-line instruction experience is desirable. Must have excellent spelling, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary, and legal writing style skills. Must have competent skill and access to operating PC with internet access.
