Profile

Corporate Counsel - Manufacturer Relations The Candidate will be responsible to orovide day-to-day counseling and issue identification and escalation to senior attorneys, as appropriate; Serves as an initial point of contact for many legal matters within the business unit and/or sub-business units. Drafts, reviews, analyzes and negotiates contracts and provides guidance on contract positions to ensure successful completion or resolution, with escalation to senior attorney as appropriate. Identifies, analyzes, researches, and resolves legal and business process issues and makes appropriate recommendations to business and senior attorney. Identifies and analyzes risk, determines the level of risk and required escalations appropriately. Consults on legal and business provisions in contracts; Coordinates contract approval and enforcement of delegations of authority as needed. Assist senior attorneys with advising business leaders on a wide array of topics relating to the manufacturer segment needs, including legal risk mitigation, manufacturer relationship management, and strategic initiatives and compliance programs. Monitors compliance with internal McKesson business and legal processes and policies. Prepares legal presentations for the senior attorneys and presents to senior leaders, as appropriate. Prepares contract summaries and/or issues lists and researching relevant guidance/laws to present to senior attorney or business unit partners for review, as applicable. Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of McKesson business units (BUs), products, strategy, and operational model. Recommends and implements contracting policies, procedures and processes. Coordinates with colleagues to identify regulatory issues, assess business impact risk and communicate same to business partners. Collaborates with a team of legal professionals that provide cross-functional support services for the above areas. While you will focus on buyside manufacturer work, there likely will be opportunities to assist with various special projects.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Juris Doctor Degree with excellent academic credentials and member of a state bar in good standing with 2+ years of legal experience in a corporate legal department or law firm. Experience with basic corporate law principles and contract drafting. Ability to draft and negotiate commercial contracts and documents. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects in an efficient and timely mannerl. Ability to work independently with direction and guidance from senior attorneys and collaboratively with other cross-functional teams in a collegial, fast-paced team environment. Proactive problem-solving approach. Exceptional communication skills with strong attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice with guidance from senior counsel. Notable business acumen dealing with risk management and organizational savvy. Must be a team player who can develop strong working relationships and work collaboratively with internal clients and other members of the legal senior team. Proficient in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and WebEx/Zoom).
