Managing Attorney of Immigration Services

As a member of the Pars Legal Team, the Managing Attorney will be in charge of streamlining the Immigration Legal Department and maintaining a client caseload while assisting in building and managing the growing needs of this department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management: Provide legal consultation, case preparation and full representation to low income clients filing immigration applications, including family-based and humanitarian immigration petitions, waivers, U Visas, VAWA, naturalization, consular processing and adjustments of status. Knowledge and readiness to handle removal cases and knowledge of employment immigration necessary to meet the community’s needs.
Outreach and Group Processing: Responsible to plan and conduct workshops, clinics, outreach activities and information sessions for immigrants and social service agencies serving immigrants. Outreach requires occasional evening and weekend events.
Maintain Grant Deliverables: Responsible for reporting to grantors on deliverables, maintaining grants and grant deliverables and ensuring compliance with all current and future immigration program grants.
Supervise Legal Work: Train and help supervise administrative support staff, legal interns and other volunteers.
Maintain Legal Best Practices: Comply with our company policies, procedures, protocols, and best practices for non-profit immigration law practice, including legal ramifications, fee collection, maintenance of client files and data for reporting requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
J.D. From ABA certified law school. A current Bar Membership in good standing.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in immigration law,
Advanced legal research and writing skills.
Dedicated to providing high quality legal assistance and capable of handling complex legal issues on behalf of low-income immigrant populations.
Outstanding public speaking skills in English and preferably Persian, with ability to conduct outreach and education events to large groups and be interviewed on television, radio, and taped video
Excellent organizational skills
Exceptional time management skills – ability to meet deadlines
Ability to act independently and exercise sound judgment
Commitment to serving immigrants and sensitivity to the needs of the low-income, culturally diverse newcomer community
Familiarity with the region and knowledge of local resources, public systems, and
Possess a positive and respectful demeanor, cultural humility, and demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with staff and clients of diverse backgrounds.
Valid CA driver’s license and auto liability coverage according to the agency requirement
Excellent computers skills: MS Office (all apps) and Immigration Software Applications (Cerenade)
Multi-lingual, presentation, oral, and written fluency in Farsi/Persian and Spanish are a considerable plus
Flexibility of schedule to accommodate occasional evening and weekend work plus some out of state travels

Pars Equality Center provides free or low-cost legal immigration services to qualified individuals. We provide community members with integration support by offering immigration education, representation and advocacy. Our immigration services include Citizenship/Naturalization applications; Green Card and Green Card renewals; Domestic Violence based immigration petitions (VAWA, U Visa, I-751 with waiver); Family Petitions; I-730 Refugee/Asylee Relative Petitions; Travel Documents; NVC Consular Processing; Employment Authorization; Fee Waivers; Representation at USCIS interviews; and more complex immigration relief such as Humanitarian Reinstatements, Consular Advocacy and Waivers under the Travel Ban. Our education services include in-house and mobile workshops, seminars and roundtable discussions on immigrant rights, ICE arrests and detention, police stops, rights at the border, and other Know Your Rights issues concerning immigrant communities. Our advocacy efforts include bringing lawsuits at national level with other Iranian American organizations challenging discriminatory immigration polices including the administration’s Travel Ban.
