Health and Safety and General Environmental Counsel Duties: The candidate will be advising, assessing, coordinating, investigating, and training internal clients on compliance with health and safety-related laws and regulations, e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Act and similar federal, state, and local requirements around the globe, as well as internal health and safety standards and policies. Assisting colleagues with advising, assessing, coordinating, investigating, and training internal clients on compliance with environmental and product stewardship laws and regulations, e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)/Solid Waste Disposal Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA)/Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and similar federal, state and local requirements. Assisting with the implementation of risk assessments, standard operating procedures, monitoring, auditing, and other related health and safety compliance controls. Participating in due diligence teams during acquisitions and post-closing integrations to assess newly acquired businesses’ compliance with health and safety laws. Formulating, aligning, and executing corporate strategies with health and safety regulatory requirements. Maintaining active involvement in development and deployment throughout the structure of effective communication, training, and compliance programs that meet high standards.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A Juris Doctor degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited Law school. Member of a United States Bar in good standing. Should have 3 years of experience in health and safety law in a private, public, government, or military setting. Engineering or technical degree; Experience working in or with industry, particularly manufacturing; Experience with health and safety compliance programs; Experience in general environmental or product stewardship law in a private, public, government, or military setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
