Librarian, DJ 3 Duties : Develop standards, recommend, monitor, and maintain multiple library systems. Recommend, monitor, maintain, and manage a Integrated Library System and discovery service. Also recommend, monitor, maintain, and manage an electronic resources management system that can be integrated into a Integrated Library System and provide liaison support for library systems with commercial vendors. Provide responses to a wide range of scientific and technical requests for information using a wide range of resources providing data in a broad range of technical and scientific subject areas. Maintain statistical data about types and frequency of requests for information. Provide technical library service support by performing tasks related to reference, interlibrary loan and participating in collection development and acquisition activities. Also disseminate information to library customers on a timely basis and research and develop tools to provide virtual reference. Analyze and provide policy development guidance while working with other library staff on policy development and mission requirements. Analyze usage of material in the library collection and identify and maintain statistical usage data within multiple library computer systems.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification : Must have 1+ year of specialized experience, such as; collection development, acquisition, cataloging and classifications of library operations; and to maintain up-to-date information on the state of the art; the ability to acquire, control, and manage information products; interpreting and applying various standards, rules, and guides to library operations; and identifying and addressing inefficiencies in the library services and operations through research studies, and projects.
This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project and this pay band includes the General Schedule grade equivalent to GS-11/12. In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25,1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
Education : Must have 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's in library science or equivalent graduate degree, e.g., LL.B. or J.D., related to the position or doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) related to the position.
