Compliance and Privacy Officer
Duties: Responsible for the development of a comprehensive compliance and business integrity program, which promotes an organizational culture that fosters ethical business behavior, and which provides the basis for ensuring compliance with all Federal and State healthcare laws and regulatory requirements. Serves as the organization’s Privacy Officer and is responsible, in collaboration with the organization’s Security Officer, for ensuring compliance with state and federal privacy laws applicable. Planning, designing, implementing and leading the compliance, privacy and business integrity program, providing leadership to departments that must abide by applicable regulatory and compliance and privacy requirements. Report regularly and as needed to the Chief Executive Officer and at least annually to the BCH Board of Directors or designated committee concerning compliance and privacy operations and activities.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business or organizational related field required. Master’s Degree in hospital or business administration, or related field or JD Degree, preferred, (e.g., MHA, MPA, MBA). Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.). Certification in healthcare compliance, preferred. 5-7 years of experience in healthcare compliance or related activities is required. High standards of performance, quality, credibility and integrity. Thorough understanding of the regulatory environment of healthcare, ethics, pertinent legislation, OIG, OCR and other regulatory agency processes, billing, monitoring techniques and communications. Significant experience in understanding the health care industry, with specific compliance and privacy experience. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, team building and customer service skills with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels within the organization. Demonstrated project management skills. Knowledge and experience in establishing and/or developing productive relationships with physician, organizational leaders, board members, staff, and other health care industry leaders. Ability to generate and encourage creative ideas, innovative thinking and practical solutions to issues or problems related to compliance. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with the context of a complex and multi-faceted organization. Demonstrated ability to interact with all members of the organization in ways that enhance understanding, respect, cooperation and problem-solving.
