Major Projects Counsel The candidate will provide expert-level business and legal advice to senior and project management on complex deal structuring, contracting, and dispute resolution. Will work closely with project teams and Commercial Directors to draft and negotiate APD design and engineering contracts with hands-on involvement in detailed aspects of project formation beyond legal provisions. Establish and maintain corporate APD contracting standards and standardized contracts with preferred APD partners. Monitor APD legislative and legal developments. Provide training and mentoring to Commercial Project Managers and Corporate Counsel. Apply experience to identify and prioritize project risks and develop risk mitigation practices. Develop and coordinate complex dispute resolution strategies. Participate in mediations and dispute negotiations. Participate in project risk and governance reviews. Represent at industry associations.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have be Licensed attorney in a one state. Must have 10+ years legal experience; less experience may be considered for highly qualified candidates. Specialized expertise in architecture, engineering, or construction law is essential. Must have interest in AEC industry. Sufficient experience to advise senior and executive management relative to design and construction industry practices is essential. Litigation and mediation experience with a recognized construction law firm is preferred. Thorough global AEC industry knowledge is preferred. Expertise in federal and local public contracting, insurance coverage, design-build, public private partnerships is preferred. Expertise in construction scheduling and claims preparation is desired. Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is preferred. Project experience in a design or field construction environment is desired. Active participation in a construction industry legal organization such as DBIA, ACEC, ABA, etc is desired. Final position title will be determined based on qualifications is preferred.
