Bankruptcy Paralegal Duties: Drafting Petitions, Schedules, SOFA, Proofs of Claim and other official bankruptcy forms. Filing documents electronically within the Federal Courts, specifically with both the U.S. Bankruptcy and the U.S District Courts. Research regarding bankruptcy dockets, recent filings, court decisions, and news about corporate insolvencies. Calendaring of critical dates related to bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings and related litigation. Preparation of hearing binders and related materials. Drafting Notices of Hearing; Pro Hac Vice Applications, Fee Applications, Retention Applications and various forms of other bankruptcy related pleadings. Researching precedent for forms of substantive and non-substantive pleadings. Assisting with retention process.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; candidates with an Associate’s degree plus a paralegal certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program will be considered. General knowledge of Chapter 11 corporate reorganizations and liquidation proceedings. General knowledge of federal court systems, local rules and practices, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Experience in CM/ECF and PACER filing system. Familiarity with technology relevant to the position, including Best Case Bankruptcy; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency. Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel. Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions. Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines. Strong verbal, written, organization, and interpersonal skills. Excellent teamwork skills and a strong client service orientation. A team player as well as working independently; exhibit a positive, helpful attitude and the ability to maintain confidential information; exercise good judgment and follow through on assigned tasks.

I would like to see management bring everyone even closer together and set up parties and get-togethers to bring everyone even closer together. I believe this would help in terms of long term productivity of the law firm as well.

Pros : I found the staff members to be very accommodating and the starting pay was exceptional. I also enjoyed the fact that the hours were very flexible and you could decide when you wanted to work practically.
Cons : I did not like the fact that there were not many office oriented events throughout the year. As an example, there were no Christmas parties within the office even though everyone gets along very well with each other.
