Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD degree from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials; License to practice law in the State of Missouri; Exceptional written and oral communication skills; Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills; and Outstanding judgment and professionalism. must have 3+ years of experience in environmental law or similar experience in administrative or natural resources law. A comprehensive understanding and experience in interpreting federal and state clean-water and water-resource management laws and regulations, especially as they relate to permitting and water-quality issues, is strongly preferred. Drafting, interpreting, and analyzing current and proposed state and federal statutes, regulations, and policies; Representing the Department in negotiations with regulated entities, cooperating agencies, vendors, and others; Coordinating compliance assistance, appeals, and enforcement matters, including working with the Attorney General’s Office on matters referred to that office for litigation; and Counseling Department staff regarding general legal matters.
