Senior Litigation Paralegal Duties: Works closely with the litigation attorney(s) to provide many facets such as drafting pleadings and discovery, assisting the team with trial or deposition, reviewing documents, creating timelines, preparing case summaries, and providing general legal assistance. Manage busy dockets for a litigation team consisting of two attorneys. Schedule depositions, court reporters and translators. Prepare and serving summonses and subpoenas. Monitor the Docket Control Order or Scheduling Order for each case. Draf pleadings and discovery. Draft and/or edit correspondence and memoranda. Perform legal research. E-file in state and federal courts. Generate status reports for the team and client. Conduct information gathering from the client. Perform asset searches. Document actions for each case. Input information into file database and case management software. Support case preparation by preparing case summaries and materials for mediation conferences. Monitor and obtain discovery responses from the client. Organize materials for team case review. Organizing and maintain case files. Monitor attorney calendars. Monitor case status. Keep clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress. Enhance trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed; taking courtroom notes. Provide public notary services when needed. Provide word processing and administrative support as requested. Qualifications: Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited institution or program required. 5+ years of law firm or corporate legal department experience. Knowledge of the principles and procedures of legal research, including use of Lexis online services. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage several projects at once. Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word. Ability to gather and organize legal evidence. Knowledge of general contract, agreement and settlement procedures and documentation. Knowledge of e-filing for state, federal, bankruptcy, and appellate courts. Working knowledge of Harris County local rules and filing deadlines under the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. Ability to create, compose, and edit written legal materials. Extremely strong organization, analytical, skills and attention to detail. Demonstrate punctuality, time management, organization, planning and coordination skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
