Temporary Public Defender Legal Assistant The candidate primary responsibility will be to work collaboratively with attorneys representing parents in Juvenile Court who have lost custody of their children due to allegations of abuse, neglect, and/or dependency. Open and close client physical files. Ensure timely conflict checks in the client database. Assist with the office's file maintenance organization and upgrades. Enter all client data into the database accurately. Photocopy and produce practice and training materials. Initiate and follow up on requests for discovery. Send all mailed communication to clients. Assist with maintaining updated information regarding clients' progress. Must have High school graduation and 3 years of legal clerical experience; or completion of a two-year legal Secretarial Science or Business Administration Associate Degree program and 1 year of responsible legal secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Should have Bachelor's degree, preferably with prior experience with the child welfare system or as a social worker. Deadline: 18 June 2018.
