ProfileLegal Assistant Duties: Answer phones, and communicate with clients to obtain needed information, schedule appointments, and answer their questions, or redirect them and schedule further calls as appropriate. Assist with the everyday management of the office. Assist with calendaring meetings, deadlines and court appearances. Assist with general filing and other clerical duties such as copying, faxing and scanning. Prepare documents for our review, including correspondence, pleadings and written discovery, revise them per our comments, and arrange for filing and service. Prepare deeds, PCORs, and related documents for recording. Help finalize estate planning documents for review and signing. Help implement efficient systems. Notarize documents, including estate plan signings.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 3+ years of experience working in small- to mid-sized law offices, preparing trust and probate documents and petitions from start to finish, and have worked with estate plans too. Alternatively, may be new to the trusts and estates world, but have experience handling litigation matters efficiently and cost-effectively. Experience in a law office. Comfort and familiarity with technology (computers, software, office equipment). Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and basic research. Excellent grammar and spelling. High level of attention to detail. Preferred: California notary commission. 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a small or mid-sized trusts and estates or litigation practice. Experience with the local courts.
