Patent Attorney The candidate will provide advice and guidance to R&D and business team members regarding a variety of intellectual property matters in order to build and retain maximum value for company. Will partner closely with internal R&D and business development team members to identify and protect of new discoveries and inventions arising from in-house research efforts and collaborations and identify “white spaces†to secure protection. Conduct or direct freedom to operate studies, analyses of third party patent positions and competitive patent intelligence. Assist in the creation and execution of Rubius’ patent strategy. Manage patent prosecution docket matters working with external counsel as needed. Provide advice regarding in-licensing intellectual property. Must have JD degree from a major accredited law school, PhD in molecular or cellular biology or similar discipline. Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office required. Should have 3-5 years prior experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications and conducting freedom to operate analyses in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical areas. Experience in a biotechnology company or pharmaceutical company preferred. Must have experience assessing concerns, identifying and managing risk and proactively managing outcomes with creative strategic planning.
