Arcadia office of our client seeks civil litigation attorney with 2 years of legal experience. The candidate represents clients in matters, manages all phases of the litigation process from the investigation, pleadings, and discovery through final disposition, either by settlements, trial or potentially, appeal. Builds and maintains relationships with paralegal, supervisor, and team members. Offers excellent client service through daily client contact. Conducts an initial case investigation to determine, in the client’s case, what evidence exists and represent the client on a civil lawsuit. Determines and makes appropriate legal decisions and strategies. Orders investigations, subpoenas and retains expert evaluations. Prepares pleadings, motions, orders required for trials and hearings. Interviews clients and witnesses for testimony. Employs a variety of discovery devices to gain relevant information. These devices include interrogatories, depositions, requests for production, requests for admission, and depositions. Prepares After Hearing Summaries (AHS) within 24 hours of attending a Court proceeding, scans the document into the employee file, and emails the Finance Manager and Managing Attorney. Provides responsive, high quality service to coworkers, clients, representatives of outside agencies and members of the public by providing accurate, complete and up-to-date information, in a courteous, efficient and timely manner. Make good faith effort to settle prior to trial. Consistently reviews calendar and case load to ensure deadlines are met. Partners with paralegal to write, process and present motions, evidence, and testimony at hearings and trial. Communicates effectively with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds and functions calmly in situations which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy. Participates in frequent trainings to build legal knowledge, strengthen court room skills, and develop deeper understanding of relevant systemic and social issues. Knowledge of: Rules of evidence and procedure applicable to litigation area; Legal research methods; Federal and State Court policies and procedures, including relevant local rules is needed. Should have California State Bar admission.
