Estate Planning Associate Candidate must have primary responsibility for many clients with basic estate planning needs, and work under the close guidance of T&E partners on complex estate planning issues for high-net-worth individuals, including entrepreneurs and long-established families. Must have: Strong academic credentials. Admitted to practice in CA. 3-5 years estate planning and estate administration experience (recent Taxation LL.M. graduates also considered). Excellent writing skills. Superb communication skills: able to explain complicated concepts so that clients can grasp them and make decisions. Ability to relate easily to clients so that they feel comfortable talking about important family matters. Must be comfortable meeting with clients who need a basic estate plan, helping them think through their estate plans, and then drafting basic documents. Knowledgeable about advanced planning strategies for gift, estate and income tax minimization -- GRATS, CRTs, sales to grantor trusts, dynasty trusts, private family foundations, etc. Able to identify when to raise strategies with specific clients, discuss how that strategy meets a client goal, discuss the pros and cons of the strategy, and help the client decide whether to pursue the strategy.
