Assistant General Counsel - Compliance

Profile

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate compliance related functions, including reviewing and conducting audits, ensuring adherence of policies and procedures, and compliance training
• Provide advice on legal, regulatory and compliance matters to operations on relevant banking and consumer protection rules and regulations, including Truth in Lending, Regulation Z, and UDAAP
• Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of various compliance programs in response to state and federal requirements as well as internal objectives
• Assist with handling consumer complaints and disputes and regulatory audits and exams
• Identify opportunities and support efforts to influence a corporate culture of compliance
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external business partners
• Other compliance related responsibilities as directed

Preferred Education and Expertise:

• Juris Doctorate and an active state bar membership in good standing
• Minimum 5 years experience practicing law; with experience in the following areas: financial services, consumer law compliance, and contract law
• Organizational skills with the ability to assess, manage and work through issues
• Ability to handle simultaneous multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines
• Strong understanding of Financial Modeling, Present Value, and APR Analysis.
• Contract and/or lending document review experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of our company, business partners, and customers.
• Working knowledge of lending regulations and consumer protection laws.
• Excellent proof readings skills and attention to detail.
• Team orientation and willingness to engage in tasks of all sizes

The Assistant General Counsel/Assistant Director of Compliance will be a member of the compliance team and will be responsible for organizing the daily operations of the compliance department under the direction of the General Counsel/Director of Compliance as well as assisting with various projects, reporting and tracking tasks. Coordination and communication are key functions of the position.
