CPA - Legal Assistant III The candidate: Creates and completes documents, prepares letters, memos, legal pleadings, and SOAH filings. Handles routine and confidential documents and information. Prepares and certifies audits and other exhibits for submission at oral hearing, and uploads documents to SOAH. Creates and maintains electronic forms and documents in accordance with section standards. Processes incoming and outgoing mail. Provides other legal assistance to AGCs. Monitors case files and ensures they are kept in accordance with section standards. Sets up, maintains, and closes out administrative hearings files. Maintains status of cases on the hearings tracking system (Agency Work Manager) and AGC hearings calendars. Responds to inquiries from taxpayers and employees concerning hearings. Serves as backup in absence of receptionist, legal assistants, and other administrative support staff. Performs other related work as assigned. Should have graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in law or a related field is generally preferred. Must have 5+ years of experience working as a legal assistant or paralegal. Should preferably have 5+ years of experience working in a law firm or corporate legal division. Experience using MS Office Excel and other MS Office Suite programs are essential. Should have experience conducting online legal research. Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) or Certified Paralegal (CP) is preferred.
