Fiduciary Tax Accountant II The candidate works directly with a senior NRA Tax Officer to insure BAC Private Bank compliance with documentation, withholding and reporting requirements under IRC Chapters 3 and 4 (NRA and FATCA) NRA account owners and NRA trust beneficiaries. The candidate for this position is expected to have a strong understanding of the NRA/FATCA reporting requirements as well as basic trust taxation knowledge to independently perform the day to day tasks necessary to insure these requirements are fulfilled including system coding within the NRA Tax Suite application. Provides NRA/FATCA tax technical expertise within Fiduciary Solutions by working closely with the senior NRA Tax Officer, Trust Administrators, other FTS associate and key business partners including the Global Tax Policy team. Works directly with the senior NRA Tax Officer in the timely completion of all annual filing requirements including the filing and mailing of client Forms 1042-S and the filing of Form 1042 for BAC Private Bank. Is able to identify potential audit or noncompliance issues and facilitate corrective actions. Responsible for periodically validating that the PACE and TAP automated NRA/FATCA withholding calculations remain in compliance and are accurate. Responsible for W-8 validation/compliance review and the W-8 annual solicitation for NRA Private Bank clients. Routinely reviews all process and procedural documents to insure all are accurate and up to date based on current tax law. Achieves client focused service standards, complies with federal/state tax laws and bank standards and policies. Has the product knowledge and expertise to address client needs; conducts tax research to resolve account specific complex tax issues; advise clients on tax treatment of transactions and technical tax matters and, stays abreast of new and proposed tax regulations. Assists with the most complex fiduciary tax matters in the NRA and FATCA arena.
Qualification and Experience
A BA/BS with a major in accounting or finance or equivalent experience - required; CPA, LLM and or Masters in Taxation – desired. Should have 5 years' experience in a tax services environment (desired fiduciary tax); proven experience with NRA/FATCA, foreign trust tax, and international trust tax compliance plus; can perform tax research to resolve complex tax issues; able to work in a multi-task environment, managing multiple priorities while delivering results; proficient in and/or obtains training regarding current systems, software programs and tools used by Fiduciary Tax. Must have strong technical working knowledge of tax processing in a high volume environment; exercises sound judgment in decision-making, taking into consideration managing risk and compliance with internal policies and procedures; can comfortably and effectively work with all levels within Fiduciary Solutions, other LOBs and Global Tax Policy. Should have thorough and broad tax knowledge in NRA/FATCA; demonstrated oral, written and presentation communication skills.
