Associate General Counsel - Senior The candidate will : Handles complex legal matters for Blue Cross of Idaho. Identify legal issues which could significantly affect the company, advise management of potential impact, and recommend legal strategies and solutions to assist the company in complying with state and federal laws and regulations.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Law degree from an accredited law school. Should have 8 years of legal experience in healthcare, insurance or contract law. Active membership in good standing with the Idaho State Bar or ability to obtain such status within one year of hire. Knowledge of: Federal and state healthcare and insurance laws; Corporate law; Provider and vendor contracts; Self-funded health plans; Managed care organizations; ERISA; HIPAA. Excellent legal writing. Strong analytical skills. Strong organizational and time management. Excellent verbal communication. Superior ability to identify legal and regulatory risk. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) – Intermediate. Ability to: Handle confidential and complex problems of critical importance; Research and analyze complex legal problems and issues and prepare legal memoranda outlining applicable authorities and recommending possible solutions and strategies; Critically evaluate and assess high level business proposals and long-standing company practices, and to offer solutions, which achieve business objectives and minimize corporate financial, legal or regulatory exposure; Provide guidance to less experienced attorneys paralegals and related legal staff and assist in the professional development of those individuals. Preferred Requirements: Blues Plan or related Health Plan experience.
