Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join their highly regarded Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group. This position will support the Chemical, Pharma, and Biotech teams across various office locations, with a preference for candidates based in Winston-Salem, NC. This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about intellectual property law and looking to make a significant impact in the patent prosecution and litigation fields.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors.
• Conduct patent searches, assessments, and due diligence.
• Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop and implement patent strategies.
• Assist in managing patent portfolios and providing strategic advice.
• Support litigation efforts related to patents, including preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
• Stay informed on industry trends, patent laws, and regulatory developments.
• Assist with patent office interviews and examinations.
• Review and analyze patent filings to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in patent prosecution.
• Strong background in intellectual property law, particularly in chemical, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology fields.
• Proficiency in drafting patent applications and handling patent prosecution.
• An advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in patent litigation is a plus.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Education:

• A degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field.
• Advanced degrees and additional relevant experience are considered advantageous.

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of patent law and intellectual property processes.
• Expertise in patent drafting and prosecution strategies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
