Job Title: Patent Agent/Tech Advisor

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Patent Agent/Tech Advisor with industry experience and strong engineering background to join its patent counseling and prosecution practice.

Duties:

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
• Analyze patent and scientific documents to assist in patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of law firm experience.
• Substantive industry experience in related fields.
• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.

Education:

• Degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field).

Certifications:

• Must be a registered US patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.
