Senior Leadership Attorney Responsibilities: Provide visionary leadership and development to attorneys and staff in family law, housing, benefits, immigration, education and other matters relevant to mission. Support and mentor both new and experienced attorneys on a wide variety of cases and matters, while reinforcing commitment to a â€œone law firmâ€ culture. Maintain a modest caseload. Provide leadership on â€™ policies, practices and guiding principles in furtherance of mission. Development and maintenance of Metro community relations and active bar participation are also required activities as this position will represent in community development and other partnerships within the Metro region. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with â€™ Executive Leadership. Work collaboratively with the Director of Litigation and other senior attorneys to strategically identify and drive case work that creates maximum impact and efficient use to resources.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice law in Minnesota. Should be active in the Minnesota Bar Association. 10+ years of practice, with courtroom and/or administrative agency experience strongly preferred. Experience providing leadership to attorneys and other legal staff required along with the ability to promote good staff morale and a positive work environment. An understanding of nonprofit operations and leadership strongly desired. Applicant should have work experience in mentoring, developing and leading attorneys in both case work and individual professional development. Experience in strategic planning and developing metrics and using data to support and drive strategic business decisions for organizations desired. Experience with grant administration highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with low-income clients, victims of domestic abuse, and persons of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds is essential. Excellent communication skills, ability to work positively and constructively with others (including Executive Leadership) in a teamwork setting, good judgment, and the ability to work hard, independently, efficiently and under pressure is necessary. Applicants must be flexible and willing to take on additional duties as assigned. Must be willing and able to travel to court proceedings, outreach/education activities, and other required events throughout the Metro Region. Computer competence is necessary.
