Job Overview: A law firm seeks a highly qualified Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to join its growing intellectual property practice in Boston, MA. Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute . patent applications across various technologies in the life sciences, including nucleic acid therapeutics, immunotherapeutics, and delivery vectors.
  • Manage patent prosecution in foreign jurisdictions, ensuring global patent protection for client innovations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement intellectual property strategies that align with clients' business goals.
  • Review and assess scientific and technical information for patent drafting and prosecution.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members, providing updates and advice on patent-related matters.
  • Support clients throughout the lifecycle of their patents, from initial filings to enforcement and monetization strategies.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with patent preparation and prosecution, particularly in the biotech/life sciences sector.
  • Extensive experience drafting and prosecuting . patent applications.
  • Strong understanding of foreign patent prosecution processes.
  • Ability to work with a range of biotech/life science technologies, including therapeutics and delivery systems.
  • Organic chemistry knowledge is a plus but not required.

Education:

  • . in a life sciences discipline (., biology, cell & molecular biology, immunology, genetics, biochemistry, or biomedical engineering).

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office (required).
  • Attorney candidates: Licensed and in good standing in at least one . jurisdiction.
