Legal Assistant II Duties: Fully review workers' compensation files and draft Administrative Orders for issuance by the agency outlining agency position on a broad range of legal issues. Analyze worker's compensation case file issues; determine the best method for proceeding on cases; participate in the development of case strategy and procedures. Research issues as assigned summarizing applicable state and federal law, applicable case law, administrative rules, regulations, and other relevant sources. Utilize computerized legal research tools. Identify and strategize resolution alternatives and make recommendations to an attorney. Compose, prepare, and ensure accuracy of various legal documents, including notices, subpoenas, complaints, motions, affidavits, and releases, Prepare for and participate in legal staffing’s with attorneys and members of the agency. Participate in the drafting of legislation and administrative rules. Serve as liaison between legal department and clients, witnesses, court personnel, public and private parties; may serve as a central contact point for coordination of agency legal activities. Provide legal information through verbal and written means to agency staff. May provide training and guidance to other legal assistants and agency staff. Provide excellent customer service and prompt accurate information to agency clients. Meaningfully contribute to all areas of the department as a positive and active member of the department’s functions and culture.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: Completion of a bachelor’s degree with a major in legal assistance or pre-law and 2+ years of legal research analysis work experience. Completion of any bachelor’s degree and a one or two-year legal assistance program. Completion of any bachelor’s degree and Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) designation; or Completion of a one or two-year legal assistance program, 5 years of legal research analysis experience, and Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) designation.
