Profile

Legal Assistant The candidate will join the practice areas of business transitions and succession planning, corporate, real estate, executive compensation, tax, and estate planning. Will provide excellent service to our clients and provide a collaborative and respectful work environment for all our team members. Assist attorneys with client, case, matter, and project management, including drafting and sending engagement and conflict waiver letters, managing document organization of client file in both physical and electronic form, managing/docketing deadlines, and anything else to help the attorneys keep ll files at the firm moving forward smoothly. Assist with the preparation, formatting, and proofreading of correspondence, memos, pleadings, research outlines, and meeting minutes. Locate, review, understand, and apply federal/state/local rules. File documents in federal and state court, including e-filing. Draft, revise, and format legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, complaints, orders, subpoenas, and transactional agreements. Prepare/maintain minute books, pleading logs, discovery logs, trial notebooks, closing binders, and entity binders. Prepare/format corporate documents and effect filing with offices of the Secretary of State. Perform UCC searches and filings. Coordinate with court reporters. Coordinate with title companies, gather TRIOs, file deeds, etc., on matters dealing with real estate. Complete basic clerical tasks, including data entry; photocopy/scan/fax; organize firm library books. Perform any other task required to assist the law firm function effectively. Must have 2+ years’ experience working as a legal secretary/legal assistant in a small or mid-size law firm and associated knowledge of law firm practices and procedures. Should preferably have Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution. Must have experience with filing documents in state and federal court and understanding federal, state, and local court-required rules. Must have high level of experience in Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Should have consistently demonstrate complete “ownership” mentality for assigned areas/projects/tasks. Should have collaborative team player with excellent listening and communication skills. Must have ability to work independently and use time efficiently. Should have strong client-relationship skills as well as the ability to use judgment, tact, discretion, and keep information confidential.
