The candidate will be responsible for litigation support and providing patentability, invalidity, freedom to operate, and due diligence assessments. Will support pharmaceutical patent litigation, including infringement and validity assessments, deposition support, expert witness support, and trial support. Draft and globally prosecute patent applications in the chemical arts. Provide support in the management of client patent portfolios. Coordinate and correspond with foreign law firms and associates to file foreign patent applications. Coordinate and correspond with clients for processing and legalization of formal documents for filing in US and foreign patent offices. Review country requirements and obtain Foreign Filing License where needed. Maintain client portfolio and provide the client with estimates of costs for future filings and maintenance. Assist in the firm's standardized procedures to enhance malpractice prevention. Prepare and send notices to clients regarding upcoming deadlines. Correspond with foreign law firms regarding filings, deadlines, and billings. Anticipate supervising partner or client needs for specific projects. Delegate effectively and as appropriate with paralegals or legal administrative assistants. Design, recommend and implement new processes and procedures to increase group efficiency. A Ph.D. degree in chemistry (organic, analytical, or medicinal) or related fields is required. USPTO registration (or ability to qualify) is essential. Law firm or in-house IP experience is preferred.
