Intellectual Property - General
2-6 yrs required
IP Paralegal Duties: Supports all stages of the patent lifecycle, including identification, filing, prosecution, maintenance, defense, litigation, and other corporate matters as they relate to IP. Understand both U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, including the following: US filing and prosecution procedures, PCT and International procedures, Docketing, Information Disclosure Statements, etc.. Communicate with outside counsel, foreign associates, attorneys and internal staff members. Comfortable working in and maintaining the docketing database including timely docketing and de-docketing of all actionable dates when applicable. Maintain electronic files including file histories, IDS records and document management. Assist annuities management. Assisting Attorneys with special requests. Formal document management: obtaining signatures for patent documents (i.e. declarations, assignments). Assist with trademark portfolio administration as needed. Support litigation activities as needed. Coordinate and schedule meetings/conference rooms, FedEd/shipping, filing letters patent; registration documents etc.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of related experience. Have a thorough understanding of docketing processes, workflows, and US and international prosecution procedures. Strong ability to prioritize, monitor, meet deadlines, and manage projects in a fast-paced environment to ensure matters are timely handled. Ability to be adaptable and maintain a positive attitude. Solid communication skills to efficiently and effectively work with internal team and outside counsel to meet goals and objectives. Ability to work independently and take ownership over matters while also seeking guidance from and working collaboratively with others. Preferred: 4-6 years of relevant work experience. A Paralegal Certificate. Experience with IAM systems/E-billing a plus.
