Managing Counsel, Advertising and Brand The candidate will identify strategic opportunities to increase growth/reduce costs and engage in intelligent risk-taking. Will advise the local and regional businesses on legal issues, including advertising, antitrust, commercial, competition, compliance, consumer protection, cyber security and privacy, intellectual property, litigation and dispute management, and promotional matters. Work closely with the North America Sales & Marketing Teams, as well as the global IP team, to lead firmâ€™s brand protection and enforcement efforts at the regional and local levels. Provide regulatory and compliance training on advertising and brand matters in conjunction with the Regulatory and Compliance specialist areas in firm. Apply business and legal judgment to proposed relationships and other issues requiring legal or compliance attention. Collaborate with members of firmâ€™s Americas Legal Team to analyze and advise firmâ€™s business on complex legal/compliance issues that arise out of its global operations. Protect firmâ€™s brands at regional and local levels. Structure and negotiate complex transactions, oversee outside counsel, and coordinate management of litigation. Support compliance and internal audit investigations and projects. Top academic credentials from a leading U.S. or Canadian law school is needed. Admitted to practice law in the United States or Canada is essential. Should have 6+ years of experience providing legal advice at a law firm, in-house, or combination of both. Experience with advertising law, consumer protection laws, licensing and intellectual property laws, and creative production is essential. Experience with state, national and international privacy laws and regulations, specifically how they relate to marketing and advertising efforts are needed. Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including intellectual property licenses, vendor agreements, and complex marketing technology contract is needed. Experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment is needed. Experience providing strategic and pragmatic legal advice in a highly-regulated environment is needed.
