ProfileSenior Counsel, Clinical Nutrition and Global Purchasing - The candidate will partner closely with the General Manager of the Clinical Nutrition Global Business Unit and Vice President of Global Purchasing, and their leadership teams to support their efforts. Will provide legal guidance and counselling, both strategic and tactical, to members of the Clinical Nutrition Global Business Unit and Global Purchasing Team. Interpret, negotiate and draft a wide range of agreements, with a focus on upstream commercial, partnership, third-party collaboration and supply transactions. Serve on the global leadership teams for Clinical Nutrition and Purchasing. Design and implement contracting processes utilizing best practices in templates, playbooks, mechanization and automated tools. Assist with developing, implementing, and continually improving processes and systems to increase efficiency of the contracting processes. Conduct training in functional areas as necessary regarding various legal issues. Proactively find creative solutions to contractual issues in order to reach resolution, taking a pragmatic approach to balancing legal risks with business interests. Coordinate with other departments/teams within firm's to ensure that negotiated documents meet firm's requirements.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must hold a law degree from a well-regarded institution and be licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one state and one federal jurisdiction within the United States. Must have 10 years of relevant experience. A combination of substantive senior level experience at a respected law firm within a medical device or pharmaceuticals practice and in-house preferred. Experience in the pharmaceutical or device industry, with working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: healthcare antitrust, intellectual property, healthcare professional interactions, and privacy is required. Ideally, demonstrated sound judgment as a senior member of a publicly-traded company. Expert level experience with complex commercial upstream contracts is required. Demonstrated experience in resolving challenging legal issues and ability to deliver sound, clear, solutions-oriented legal advice in a business setting is required. Experience in streamlining and improving work flows, and training and empowering business colleagues is required. Experience working in a global company and matrixed environment is desired.
