Senior North Regional Corporate Counsel The candidate will serve as Regional Lead Attorney supporting state business operations in within an assigned firm's region. Responsible for providing a high level of strategic, general corporate advice regarding contracts, disputes, regulatory compliance, government programs (Medicare/Medicaid), regulations and other health care legal matters, as front-line business partner for each state in the region. Responsible for managing a range of issues in the markets and consulting with Legal subject matter experts and National Practice Group leads as necessary. Supporting firm’s regional businesses by integrating with local market leadership and delivering front-line legal advice on a variety of legal issues, including vendor and provider contracting, disputes, business expansion, strategic transactions, regulatory/ compliance issues and other legal matters. Building strong relationships as a trusted legal and business advisor with state leadership and functional business leads to stay apprised of business plans, risks and opportunities. Interfacing with local Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs’ associates and collaborating on issues. Monitoring and reporting on local developments and trends and possible impact on other markets. Building strong relationships and engaging with subject matter expert attorneys/National Practice Group Leads within the Legal department to deliver outstanding work product. Possibly assuming responsibility for other states as Region grows.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have JD degree from nationally accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in state of office residence; ability to get licensed in other states is essential. Should have 7+ years of experience in Providing sophisticated legal and business advice to MCOs or similar clients. 4+ years of experience in Front-line legal advisory role in multi-state company with a legal business partnering model is required. 4+ years of experience in Health care law is needed. Advanced Ability to communicate and make recommendations to upper management is must. Advanced Microsoft Word skills is required. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills is preferred. Intermediate Microsoft PowerPoint skills is a plus. Intermediate Microsoft Outlook skills is helpful.
