Senior Paralegal - Regulatory and Compliance The candidate will be responsible for providing analytical and administrative support to the Law Department’s regulatory control and compliance unit. Will be working among regulatory attorneys and compliance professionals that support the company’s core business lines and corporate shared services. The abilities to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment are essential. Present the opportunity to work and learn from several attorneys and compliance leaders, and to participate in a variety of legal and regulatory projects and assignments. Help track and inventory all regulatory matters received across the enterprise. Under attorney supervision, coordinate insurance regulatory matter response activities, including managing response schedules and maintaining secured electronic data storage libraries. Conduct insurance regulatory research and resolve routine questions of law/regulation under the guidance of a supervising attorney. Regularly communicate with state departments of insurance via telephone, email and other written correspondence. Document insurance regulatory exam findings and monitor implementation of any corrective actions. Manage scheduled and one-off regulatory filings and proactively seek to implement solutions to increase operational efficiencies. Open matters on the Company legal billing and reporting system; assist in the review and processing of invoices from outside examiners and auditors. Support the development and reporting of enterprise market conduct examination data through data collection and data entry. Support visiting external audit consultants and examiners with general office needs (desk space, security badges, internet access). Assist in managing calendars and schedules. Use Company systems to order supplies and submit invoices. Support attorney travel arrangements and track expenses. Answer telephone and assist in day-to-day operations (filing, photocopying, mailing, etc.) as needed. Report to the Director, Counsel, Regulatory and Compliance who, in turn, reports to the Vice President, Corporate Chief Compliance Officer. Must preferably have a Bachelor’s degree. Should have 3-5 years of paralegal experience. Paralegal certification is preferred. Insurance or financial services regulatory experience and ability to conduct insurance legal and regulatory research is strongly preferred. Must be well versed in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
