Assistant General Counsel The candidate will assist General Counsel to plan, organize, implement and control Legal and Risk Management activities and operations for MH and subsidiaries / affiliates. Will assist, advise and consult with MH and subsidiary management on legal aspects of health care delivery, organization and corporate structure. Direct projects, research and activities of staff attorneys, paralegals and legal secretary. Develop and monitor annual capital and operating expense budgets and human resource plan totaling over $700,000. Assist and advise MH and subsidiary management and associate on medicolegal issues involving patient care, medical records requests, consent issues, medical staff disciplinary actions and by-laws. Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have thorough knowledge of legal principles, methods and procedures in healthcare as would be acquired through completion of a JD degree and 7 years related experience. Should be an experienced healthcare transactions attorney with experience in compliance with federal and state rules, regulations, policies and procedures including Stark, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and other healthcare regulatory issues. Should be able to understand and prepare complex written materials such as major contracts, business plans and policies and procedures. Should have the ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally with all levels of Associates, executives, management, physicians and Board of Directors. Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals is required. Should have advanced skill in negotiating and conflict resolution with and between individuals and groups of people, including Associates, management and physicians. Ability to plan and schedule tasks and projects and to maintain control of own and others’ workflow is needed.
