Paralegal Duties: Support plaintiff personal injury attorneys in multi-state practice, including client relations, case intake, investigation, compiling medical records and bills, preparing and responding to discovery and preparing for depositions and for trial. Assists in case intake and screening, Compiles evidence and supporting information by retrieving and organizing documents and reports, medical records and medical bills. Works closely with clients, monitoring medical condition and progress, assisting as needed, as well as helping them respond to discovery and to prepare for depositions. Prepares complaints and other legal documents for attorney's approval, proofreading, and maintaining document control systems. Begins legal actions by arranging for filing of lawsuits and service of process. Prepares discovery requests and responds to in-coming discovery. Oversees cases by managing files and documents; coordinating with support services and clients, opposing law firms, and courts; managing court docket calendars; maintaining schedules and deadlines; generating status reports, logs, and indexes; processing settlement papers and payments. Prepares trial notebooks, exhibits, and witness lists; obtains jury lists and background information. Summarizes medical records and prepares medical chronologies. Maintains document control and management, organizing and storing documents and updating case management system. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Ability to Work with People and Maintain Good Relationships with Clients, Medical Terminology, Research Skills, Good Writing Skills, Telephone Skills, Multi-tasking, Organizational and Administration Skills, Word and Excel, Fluency in Spanish would be very helpful.
