Contract Specialist, GS 05-07
Qualifications: The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate.

For GS-05: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees.
A current member of the Armed Forces (not retired or separated) OR a current DOD employee that meets the following requirements: 1) served as a contracting officer with authority to award or administer in excess of the simplified acquisition threshold on or before 30 September 2000; 2) served, on or before 30 September 2000, in a position as either an employee in the GS-1102 series or as a member of the Armed Forces in a similar occupation specialty; OR, (3) is in the contingency contracting force.

For GS-07: Must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is experience that may have been gained while in the Federal service procuring a wide variety products and services; administering terms and conditions of contracts; negotiating and awarding contracts and contract modifications; performing price/cost analysis; monitoring contractor's performance; performing work associated with termination of contracts.
One full academic year of graduate education or law school or superior academic achievement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of contracting principles, policies and procedures. Knowledge of business practices and market conditions applicable. Skill in applying contract price/cost analysis techniques to a variety of pre-award and/or post-award procurement actions. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
