Job Posting: Nurse Consultant/LVN/LPN

Growing national nursing home abuse firm seeking a hard-working Nurse Consultant/LVN/LPN (at least 2-4 years experience) who is motivated and a self-starter. This position will involve civil litigation case analysis and assisting with case management, including critical review of medical records among job duties. Candidates must be able to multi-task and work in an organized and efficient manner. Candidate must also have excellent analytical and critical reasoning skills, have the ability to think on their feet and respond strategically, and have a client focused mentality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage medical records requests and organization in firm database of records received; Bates number records; applying Optical Character Recognition (“OCR”) to medical records to facilitate searches;
  • Review medical records for merit;
  • Review the mediation docket on a monthly basis and ensure that updated nurse reports are available for upcoming mediations;
  • Review expert report calendar on a monthly basis for the docket and ensure that updated nurse reports are available for all upcoming Chapter 74 reports;
  • Work the with pre-litigation and litigation paralegals to obtain any identified outstanding medical records;
  • Prepare nurse reports which include a general timeline, identification, and listing of all treatments, breaches, and injuries;
  • Assist the attorneys in preparing for deposition through the identification of “hot documents” in the medical records; identify pages from the medical record to be used in questioning of witnesses;
  • Assist in mediation preparation by identifying pages from the medical records that can be used to add value to cases in mediation;
  • Assist attorneys in preparation for, and at trial..

General Requirements:

a. Have an outgoing, friendly personality;

b. Be able to deal with, and work well with a diverse population including clients, executive and senior management, attorneys, administrative staff, and strategic partners;

c. Be committed to the mission of the firm;

d. Must be organized and have good communication skills;

e. Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and be generally familiar with, and experienced with, computer and internet programs and capabilities;

f. Prior civil litigation and case management experience preferred;

g. An associate degree.
