Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a Private Client Trusts & Estates Associate to join its expanding, nationally recognized team in Stamford, CT. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in estate planning, estate administration, and trust administration. This role offers the opportunity to work with high-net-worth individuals and families on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies, charitable giving, and estate and retirement asset planning. The firm offers a hybrid work schedule for better flexibility, allowing both in-office and remote work.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on estate planning, estate administration, and trust administration.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies, including business succession, asset protection, and charitable giving.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as corporate, real estate, and environmental law teams, to meet clients' broader needs.
  • Assist clients in navigating relevant state and federal tax laws.
  • Work with individuals, families, fiduciaries, and tax-exempt organizations on a range of estate and trust-related matters.
  • Engage in estate and trust litigation as necessary, working with clients and fiduciaries to resolve complex disputes.

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of experience in estate planning and estate/trust administration.
  • Strong technical, professional, and client service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong advocacy skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
  • Connecticut bar admission in good standing or willingness to be admitted.
  • New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, or Rhode Island bar admission is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar (or ability to become admitted).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of estate planning, estate/trust administration, and relevant tax laws.
  • Ability to advise on complex estate planning and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with other practice areas, including corporate and real estate.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
